London set to move into tier 2 lockdown from Saturday

Bromley is close enough to London to be brought into Tier 2

On Saturday residents of several regions of old Kent which form Greater London will fall into more severe locks.

London MPs were advised to raise the alert level from level 1 to level 2, which means a ban on meeting people from outside the home indoors. The alert level is expected to increase from level 1.

Areas like Bromley, Orpington, and Bexley, according to the MirrorOnline, are thought to have affected the changes.

Care minister and Faversham MP Helen Whately told the MEPs that on Saturday (17 October), a number of sources stated in the paper, changes would take effect at 00:01.

In the 60s and upward trajectory of intensive care cases, Ministers expressed concern regarding the growing number of cases.

Only 30% of Intensive Care Beds in the capital were free to deal with the sickest patients in the data submitted to local MPs.

This moves London into the 'high' risk category for the virus in swathes of north England.

Under the rules that come into force late on Friday, nobody outside your home can meet you or support a bubble indoors. This is true at home or in a public environment.

There is an outdoor rule of six limits.

People are advised not to use public transport, but to work from home.

Restaurants and pubs can remain open, the curfew of 10:00 is still applicable.

Mayor Sadiq Khan of London said he was expecting the ministers to report to Parliament later today.

"The move is based on public health experts and the science of what is needed to save lives in the capital." He said. He said.

"Besides the already existing restrictions, this means that different households in London can not mix indoors.

"Nobody wants further constraints-but this is thought to be necessary to protect the lives of Londoners by myself, the leaders of the London Council, and the ministers."

He warned the people of London of a « difficult winter ahead » and urged them to join forces to follow the rules.

The news comes as the Secretary of Health Matt Hancock was to update Commons with the latest alerting levels for coronavirus with even more stringent constraints for Greater Manchester.

The areas on the Kent/London border affected are

  • Orpington
  • Bexley
  • Bexleyheath
  • Greenwich
