The United States will contribute M2 Bradley Fighting Vehicles, and Germany will provide Marder Infantry Fighting Vehicles to bolster Ukraine's armor arsenal in preparation for the Russian invasion.
Thursday, US President Joe Biden and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz jointly announced the extra help.
Tomorrow, according to Air Force Brig. Gen. Pat Ryder, the top Pentagon spokesman, says the US is scheduled to reveal an aid package that includes Bradleys.
"I can confirm that a new round of security assistance for Ukraine is expected tomorrow, and as the White House has indicated, that assistance will include Bradley Fighting Vehicles," he told reporters, including those from The War Zone, during a news briefing on Thursday afternoon.
Ryder did not specify the quantity of Bradleys anticipated in the shipment. According to Reuters, the load will comprise fifty Bradleys.
Ryder stated that the Bradley offers "an armored capability that can transport mechanized infantry into battle in support of both offensive and defensive operations, providing a level of firepower and armor that will provide advantages on the battlefield."
According to Reuters, US President Joe Biden and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said Thursday that Germany will also provide Marders to Ukraine.
According to Reuters, "Both countries agreed to train Ukrainian soldiers on how to use them, it said, while Germany would also supply a Patriot air defense battery to Ukraine, which has scored some battlefield successes since Russian forces invaded last February but has asked allies for heavier weapons to defend itself,"
The United States agreed to provide a Patriot battery to Ukraine last month.
Bradleys and Marders will be sent to Ukraine, as French President Emmanuel Macron informed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Wednesday that France will provide AMX-10 RC armored fighting vehicles.
These events demonstrate that Ukraine's supporters are currently taking steps to improve the country's armored capabilities significantly.
