According to authorities, at least four people were killed by a gunman on Wednesday at a hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma. This is the latest mass shooting to shake the United States, as families in Texas bury victims from a school shooting nearly ten days ago.

According to authorities, the suspect, armed with a rifle and handgun during his attack on the Saint Francis hospital grounds, committed suicide.

Deputy Chief Eric Dalgleish of the Tulsa Police Department told reporters, "Right now we have four civilians that are dead, we have one shooter that is dead, and right now we believe that is self-inflicted,"

He stated that officers arrived immediately after emergency calls and reported that a gunman had entered the clinic-containing second floor of the Natalie Building on the Saint Francis campus.

Upon their arrival, police "were hearing shots in the building," according to Dalgleish, who said that cops investigated each floor and room while attempting to clear the building amid what officials described as an active shooter incident.

Earlier, police captain Richard Meulenberg stated that authorities were considering the incident as "catastrophic," as "several" individuals had been shot and "multiple injuries." had occurred.

It was unclear how many further individuals may have been hurt.

Four minutes, according to Dalgleish, elapsed between the time emergency calls were received and the time officers confronted the shooter.

Additionally, Dalgleish stated that the suspect had not yet been identified.

The White House stated that US Vice President Joe Biden has been briefed on the shooting and that the government has offered assistance to Tulsa officials.
