Saturday, Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz chose to extend the West Bank closure for one additional day.
The closure was enforced before Memorial Day last week and extended until Monday following Thursday's fatal terrorist incident in Elad. Two Palestinians from the West Bank killed three Israelis and injured four more in an ax attack.
Gantz decided to extend it further after consulting with the heads of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) as the manhunt for the terrorists reached its third day.
Gantz stated, "We will apprehend the terrorists and punish everyone involved in this incident." "We are in the midst of a difficult moment and a horrific wave of terrorism. The IDF, Shin Bet, and police are collaborating, and we are studying and weighing our options.
The accused were identified as As'ad Yousef As'ad Al-Rifa'i, 19, and Subhi Emad Subhi Abu Shqeir, 20, both from the northern West Bank settlement of Rumana, located near Jenin.
On Friday, Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett stated, "We will get our hands on the terrorists and ensure they pay the price."
