Cristiano Ronaldo and his partner Georgina Rodriguez announced Monday, the death of their little son. The couple announced their pregnancy in October.

"It is with our deepest sadness we have to announce that our baby boy has passed away,"  Ronaldo and Rodrguez wrote in a joint statement. "It is the greatest pain that any parents can feel."

How the infant died is unknown. The Manchester United striker and his model wife, Rodrguez, confirmed that their infant daughter survived.

"Only the birth of our baby girl gives us the strength to live this moment with some hope and happiness," the couple explained.

The couple expressed gratitude to medical personnel for their care and assistance, stating that they are "devastated" and require solitude at this "very difficult time."

"You, our infant son, are our angel. We shall always be in love with you "They asserted.

Numerous fans, teammates, and others expressed heartfelt congratulations to Ronaldo and his family.

"Your anguish is our anguish. I'm sending you and your family my love and support during this difficult time "Manchester United stated in an Instagram post by the newlyweds.
