The Nicaraguan National Assembly's deputies will examine a decree for the deletion of the legal identity of six non-governmental organizations in breach of the country's laws in the coming days, the legislative body announced Wednesday.
The Mara Elena Cuadra Women's Movement, PEN International-Nicaragua, the Nicaraguan Association for Human Rights, the Center for the Promotion of Youth and Children, and the Ibero-American Foundation for Cultures are among the organizations mentioned.
The regulation, which also applies to the Blanca Araz Foundation for the Promotion of Women and Children, reacts to the absence of financial disclosures from these organizations, according to fiscal periods and thorough breakdowns, according to the Ministry of the Interior.
Furthermore, the boards of directors are headless, and there are no disclosures of prior donations from overseas, which impedes supervision and surveillance by the Department of Non-Profit Civil Associations for the regulation of organizations of this type.
Once the annulment decree is authorized by the Central American nation's Parliament, the Ministry of Interior will proceed to execute what has been agreed upon concerning each of the six organizations within 72 hours.
Following that, the legal representatives must submit the law books, stamps, and other needed papers, and in the case of assets, if their destination is not chosen before probable liquidation, they will become state property, according to the law.
