Alec Baldwin answered questions regarding the tragic film set shooting of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, whom he referred to as a friend, for the first time on Saturday, after reporters tracked him down to Manchester, Vermont, according to TMZ.

While the conversation on the side of the road was tense, it was also courteous. Baldwin frequently stated that he was unable to comment on the investigation, but that he was in daily touch with the Santa Fe sheriff's office.

Baldwin said, "I can't answer any questions about the investigation, I can't. It's an active investigation. A woman died. She was my friend."

One of the interlocutors couldn't recall the name of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, whom Baldwin tragically shot on the set of "Rust," at one point during the conversation.

 

Baldwin's wife Hilaria, cell phone in hand filming the converged paparazzi, interjects, "Her name was Halyna. If you are spending this much time waiting for us, you should know her name."

 

While Baldwin would not comment on the investigation's specifics, he did say he was in favor of reexamining the use of firearms on set.

What happened on the set of "Rust" was "a one in a trillion incident," he added.

Baldwin said he met with Hucthins' widower Matthew. He noted, "The guy is overwhelmed with grief," adding, "he is in shock, he has a nine-year-old son."
