On the first anniversary of Chadwick Boseman's death, Hollywood stars Michael B Jordan, Viola Davis, and Lupita Nyong'o paid tribute to the Black Panther actor.

Boseman died at the age of 43 after a four-year battle with colon cancer that he kept quiet.

He was best recognized for portraying the lead in Marvel's groundbreaking superhero film Black Panther and for the Netflix drama Ma Rainey's Black Bottom, for which he received posthumous accolades.

Jordan, who played the villain Erik Killmonger in Black Panther, released a photo of himself hugging Boseman a year after his death.

“Not a day goes by bro...,” the 34-year-old remarked. I miss you and love you, but I know you're still with us.”

Kerry Washington, 44, shared a snapshot of Boseman doing the Wakanda salute, which involves a superhero crossing their arms in an x-shape.

“One year without Chadwick Boseman,” she said. Thank you for keeping an eye on us. King, we miss you.”

“This day last year you left this earth and us,” Davis, 56, captioned a behind-the-scenes photo from the set of Ma Rainey's Black Bottom, in which they starred opposite each other. You are sorely missed, man!!!”

Kevin Hart, 42, of the United States, captioned a photo of Boseman with his children at a basketball game, "Legends never die....rest in paradise KING!!!!!"

Nyong'o, an Oscar-winning actress, said his legacy continues on.

“I did not know that I could miss both his laughter and his silence in equal measure,” the actress, who plays spy Nakia in Black Panther, wrote on Instagram beside a photo of the two laughings together. Yes, I do. I do...

“A year after his death, the memory of @chadwickboseman is still fresh in my mind.”

Among those paying respect was Josh Gad, who co-starred with Boseman in the 2017 legal drama Marshall.

“Not a day goes by one year later, where it doesn't hurt,” the actor and singer, 40, posted on Twitter. But even in the dark, he always brings us back to the light. On this earth, he was an angel, and now he is a Saint in heaven. More than ever, I love and miss you... forever.”

He also shared one of Boseman's final texts to Gad, in which the Black Panther actor detailed a rainstorm in Los Angeles and encouraged Gad to "thank God for the unique beauties and wonders of this day."

The unexpected death of Boseman on August 28 of last year rocked Hollywood and sparked an outpouring of sadness from all across the world.

With a predominantly black ensemble, Black Panther was hailed as a watershed event for representation when it was released in 2018.

It was a box office hit, grossing 1.3 billion USD (£944 million) and receiving an Oscar nomination for best film.

Boseman received a posthumous Oscar nomination for his role as an ambitious trumpeter in Ma Rainey's Black Bottom earlier this year.

Taylor Simone Ledward, the actor's widow, sang an emotional performance of I'll Be Seeing You at a Stand Up To Cancer charity event last week.
