According to people close to the actor, Bob Odenkirk was rushed to a Los Angeles-area hospital on Tuesday after falling on the set of his AMC cable network drama "Better Call Saul."
According to celebrity news website TMZ.com, Odenkirk was struck while filming a scene in New Mexico, where the series is set and was instantly swarmed by crew members who summoned an ambulance.
On the condition that they not be identified, two people confirmed the authenticity of TMZ's claim to Reuters through email.
It was unclear whether Odenkirk, 51, was aware when he was evacuated, according to TMZ, which cited its own production and law enforcement sources for its account. According to TMZ, the actor was still in a hospital under the supervision of doctors as of 7:30 p.m. local time.
“Better Call Saul,” which is now in production for its sixth season, is a prequel to the hit AMC crime drama “Breaking Bad,” in which Odenkirk starred as Saul Goodman, a sharp-witted criminal defense lawyer for the show's protagonist, Bryan Cranston.
The spinoff follows Odenkirk's character's transformation from a two-bit con artist turned struggling public defender named Jimmy McGill to the morally confused attorney Saul Goodman, who eventually works with drug traffickers and underworld figures.
Odenkirk has received four Primetime Emmy Award nominations for his work on "Better Call Saul." His filmography includes supporting appearances in films such as "Nebraska," "The Post," and "Little Women." He most recently starred in the action thriller "Nobody" on the big screen.
He was a comedy writer for "Saturday Night Live" and "The Ben Stiller Show" in the past.
