The delta variant of COVID 19, which was first identified in India, is becoming a dominant strain across the globe, said the World Health Organization.
WHO said that the virus has spread to more than 80 countries across the world and continues to mutate which is probably making it more strong.
WHO Chief Scientist Soumya Swaminathan said in a press conference that was held in Geneva on Friday that the variant has significantly and rapidly spread due to its higher transmissibility.
The delta variant is proven to be stronger and more transmissible.
However, the sign of relief is currently available vaccines are able to combat the variant.
