President Joe Biden headed out on his first overseas trip since taking office Wednesday, seeking to reaffirm the United States' standing on the world stage with familiar allies and portraying himself as the leader of the free world, including in his first face-to-face meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Before boarding Air Force One, Biden told reporters nearby that his goal for the trip is "to make it clear to Putin and China that Europe and United States are tight, and the G-7 is going to move."

Asked whether he’ll come to an understanding with Putin over cyberattacks, Biden paused and then said, "Who knows? We know it'll be a subject of our discussion."
