The efforts to create a 9-11 style inquiry commission for the Capitol Riot were blocked off by the Senate Republicans despite a brand popular effort for such an investigation.

In a procedural vote in the Senate on Friday, six Republican senators broke ranks to back the commission, which was more than expected, but four fewer than the 10 needed to overcome a filibuster and for it to advance.

Senate Majority leader Chuck Schummer condemned the Senate Republican's action to block the bill.

“Shame on the Republican party for trying to sweep the horrors of that day under the rug because they’re afraid of Donald Trump,” Schumer said in a Senate floor speech immediately after the vote.

Trump remains at the roots of the Republican party and his face still matters to the Grand Old Party.

Trump has called the commission a  trap of the democrats to drag him into this.

Senate Minority Leader Mitch Mcconnell who was in favor of the investigation in that initial days has said the commission being a continued effort to  “litigate the former president, into the future.”
