The Friends reunion was first announced in March when David Schwimmer unveiled the news on a variety of TV and radio shows.

Now, not only do we have an official release date - May 27th - but we've also been given a sneak peek at a short trailer, thanks to HBO Max's teaser "The One Where They Get Back Together":

The teaser doesn't say much, but it doesn't need to: hearing the gentle version of The Rembrandts' classic theme song is enough to send shivers down your spine.

Friends, with its final season airing in 2004, is probably the most successful sitcom of the 1990s, if not all time. Despite this, it never seems to have faded from view, having been heavily syndicated on channels like Comedy Central and Channel 4 for decades before making its way to Netflix, where it will be immortalized by a new generation.

It's difficult to believe that the 10-series show hasn't touched any age, since it seems as though it's been around forever and you'd be hard-pressed to find someone who doesn't recognize those six names.

Many of the original cast members will return in the hour-long unscripted special, including Matthew Perry (Chandler), Jennifer Aniston (Rachel), Courteney Cox (Monica), Lisa Kudrow (Phoebe), Matt LeBlanc (Joey), and David Schwimmer (Ross).

While the HBO production will not be a new episode or movie, but rather a reunion where our favorite group of friends will look back on the show and reflect on its place in television history, there will be some added bonuses.

Along with the main cast, supporting cast members Maggie Wheeler (Janice), James Michael Tyler (Gunther), Reese Witherspoon (Jill), and Tom Selleck (Richard), as well as Elliott Gould and Christina Pickles, who played Ross and Monica's parents, Jack and Judy, will all return.

There will also be a host of surprise celebrity guests, including David Beckham, Lady Gaga, BTS, Cara Delevingne, Mindy Kaling, James Corden, Malala Yousafzai, and Justin Bieber, to name a few.

Their relationship with the show is similar to ours: they were just fans like the rest of us, and it remains to be seen what role they will play in the highly awaited case.

We feel like we've been waiting a long time for this, and whether you're a true fan of the show or not, you can't deny the affection fans have for it, as well as the significance of the reunion. Though it's unclear if and when it'll be available in the UK, it'll undoubtedly be one of the most significant moments in television history.
