Cabinet reshuffled by Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro

President Jair Bolsonaro of Brazil declared a major cabinet reshuffle, naming new security, justice, interior, and foreign affairs ministers, as well as the head of the presidential civil chamber and the prosecutor general.

"We changed the leadership of six ministries on Monday," Bolsonaro wrote on his Telegram channel. "Related appointments will be reported in the official gazette."

Following the resignation of Gen. Fernando Azevedo e Silva, Walter Souza Braga Netto, the former Chief of Staff of the Brazilian Armed Forces, will head the Ministry of Defense.

Carlos Alberto Franco Franca, a former ambassador, and diplomat who also worked as a special advisor to the president of the republic have been appointed as the country's new foreign minister.

The former minister's close ties to former US President Donald Trump and harsh remarks against China, according to media reports, were part of the reason for the country's lack of progress in securing vaccine shipments.
