Popular lady rapper Nicki Minaj's father dies after being struck by a car in a hit-and-run crash in New York on Friday night.

According to the Nassau County Police Department, Robert Maraj died at a hospital dies of his injuries due to the accident.

Police said the 64-year-old was walking at the intersection of Roslyn Road and Raff Avenue in Mineola, Long Island around 6:15 pm on Saturday when he was struck by the vehicle.

The police department confirmed that Maraj was the father of the rapper, according to BuzzFeed News.

The vehicle description was not available and the suspect had not been identified as of Sunday afternoon.
