Joe Biden's first use of sign language interpreter at the White House sparked controversy after the interpreter chosen by Biden-administration was a Trump activist.

Heather Mewshaw, 41, appeared alongside the White House press secretary Jen Psaki, at a coronavirus briefing. According to Time Magazine, she was linked to a right-wing interpreters group. She was seen on Facebook wearing a red 'Make America Great Again' hat.

She had also interpreted a video featuring Trump's Lawyer Rudy Guiliani, with the title "What really happened on January 6th?".

She also signed for a video by a pro-Trump figure, days before joining Whitehouse. He said, "Joe Biden will never be my president."
