The United Kingdom approved the Pfizer/BioNTech Covid-19 vaccination for children aged 12 to 15 years old on Friday.

Pfizer Inc and its German partner BioNTech SE began testing their Covid-19 vaccine in children under the age of 12 in March, with the goal of increasing vaccination to that age group by early 2022, according to the US pharma.

US regulators approved the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine for anyone aged 16 and up in late December.

Moderna, a US pharmaceutical company, claimed in May that their Covid-19 vaccine protects youngsters as young as 12 years old. Pfizer's vaccine was approved for use in children aged 12 and up by the US and Canada in the same month.
