The Gulf state of Qatar has said it will only allow fans to attend world cup matches if they are vaccinated against the COVID 19.

Qatar is currently in talks to secure one million Covid-19 vaccines to immunize those visiting the country for the 2022 World Cup.

The controversial construction of stadiums which has been widely criticized for human rights abuses has not been completed yet. Authorities say most work of the stadium construction has been completed however the construction of three stadiums including the construction of Lusail Stadium is underway. Lusail Stadium, which will host the WorldCup final, is now 90% completed.

Qatar hosts the World Cup between November 21 and December 18, 2022, and FIFA president Gianni Infantino said in February that matches will be played in full stadiums.

Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al Thani said that the country is taking measures to ensure a successful event.

"We are currently negotiating with a company to provide one million doses of Covid-19 vaccines to immunize and vaccinate some of those coming to Qatar," he said.

He, however, didn't mention the name of a company which the country is negotiating for the vaccine.
