It completed City's treble, making them only the second English club after Manchester United in 1999, who also won the Premier League, FA Cup, and Champions League.

"Unbelievable night, I'm so pleased. Difficult to articulate. I believe we created history today," said City captain Ilkat Gundogan to BT Sport.

"It was obvious that it would be challenging for both teams. We were not at our best in the opening period. It was an even contest. As is typical in finals, a single strike proved decisive. We feel very privileged that it happened to us.

"We were aware that everyone was discussing the treble. The pressure was there, but I believe this team is best equipped to manage pressure."
