The United Nations Security Council on Thursday has called for 'utmost restraint' from the military. The fifteen member nations of the Security Council unanimously called for the reversal of the military coup in Myanmar.

The statement was approved by all 15 member nations of the security council including China, Russia, and Vietnam.

The current president of the security council and US Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield announced that the statement has been agreed upon.

The statement urges for the immediate release of the detained leaders including the State councilor Daw Aung Sang Suu Kyi and President Win Myint.

The UN Security Council statement came after Amnesty International accused Myanmar Security Forces of using battlefield weapons on unarmed protestors and orchestrating premeditated killings by commanding the officers.

Police arrested more than 200 protesters on Wednesday and have severely beaten many.
