The Biden Administration has decided to grant temporary deportation relief and work permits to Myanmar citizens in the United States.

This means more than 1,600 Myanmar Citizens already residing in the US, including the diplomats who have broken up with Myanmar's Junta, will be eligible to be granted a Temporary Protected Status for 18 months.

The status allows the Burmese citizens to work and reside in the United States legally.

The Secretary for the US Homeland Security Said, “Due to the military coup and security forces’ brutal violence against civilians, the people of Burma are suffering a complex and deteriorating humanitarian crisis in many parts of the country.”

The program will apply only to Burmese Citizens residing in the US before March 11, 2021.

At least 70 people have been killed in Burma following the Military Crackdown against the protestors. People are protesting and demonstrating against the Myanmar Military, which has overthrown the elected government to enforce the Military regime.

More than 2000 protesters have been arrested since the coup on February 21.
