Myanmar anti-coup protests: More than 100 police join anti-coup protests

Police officers in Myanmar have joined the protests against the military coup in the country.

According to reports by The Irrawaddy, more than 100 officials have joined the Civil Disobedience Movement including, the acting Police Colonel Tin Min Tun.

Min Tun said in a video statement earlier this week that he does not want to serve the military regime. Min Tun, who has served in the police for 31 years said the military is misusing the police.

Following the lead of their senior officer, many other police officers have also joined the Movement.

Myanmar has turned into a riot zone after the Myanmar Military took over the government on February 1.

At least 55 protesters have been killed so far by the Military controlled police force. 

Despite condemnations and sanctions from world bodies, Myanmar Military has been consistent with its increasingly violent tactics.

Police officers across the different parts of the country including the capital Nyapyidaw, Yangoon, and Mandalay.
