Twelve Myanmar nationals have taken refuge in the northeastern Indian border region of Mizoram following the ongoing military coup in Myanmar.

Kumar Abhishek, the deputy commissioner of the Serchhip district in Mizoram, said that eight Burmese nationals had taken refuge in his district, BBC reported.

The local newspaper, Mizoram Post, reports that four more Burmese have taken refuge in Champai district.

They live in a community building in the village of Lungkol, a few kilometers from the Indo-Myanmar border.

It is said that the district administration has taken charge of their food and drink.
