Myanmar's military Junta has blocked access to Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia, throughout the country.
NetBlocks, an organization that reports internet blockages worldwide, wrote on its website on Friday that all versions of the online encyclopedia are inaccessible in the country.
Myanmar's government is taken over by the Junta after a military coup on February 1. The regime has then looked to expand internet censorship. Previously, it had blocked Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Whatsapp. It also once blocked internet access throughout the country.
The social media and internet blockades make it more difficult for opponents of the military junta to organize, connect with friends and family and follow the news. The Wikipedia blockade adds even more to the information restriction.
There has been a public outrage against Myanmar's military regime. People from all classes, ethnicity, races, and genders have come out to protest against the tyrannical actions of the Myanmar military.
