A rugby league player from Australia was discovered dead in Spain after going missing during a night out with pals.
Local media stated that police in Barcelona discovered Liam Hampson's body on the floor of the nightclub where he was last seen.
He was traveling in Europe with a group of National Rugby League (NRL) players, who reported him missing.
The 24-year-family old's reported that he was killed in an accident and that they are "heartbroken"
Mr. Hampson played for the Redcliffe Dolphins in the Queensland Cup, a squad that will compete in the NRL next season.
His family said on social media that he became separated from his pals when leaving the Sala Apollo nightclub in the early hours of Tuesday local time.
After he had not been seen for more than 24 hours, relatives requested assistance in his search.
The Brisbane Times stated that Mr. Hampson's body was discovered around lunchtime on Wednesday by employees in Barcelona.
According to the report, officers suspect Mr. Hampson fell to his death from a height of approximately 10 meters within.
Brett, Mr. Hampson's father, indicated that his family was distraught.
"Liam had a heart of gold... words cannot express our grief," he posted on social media.
The family stated that their thoughts were with the group of Mr. Hampson's traveling companions, which included a number of elite-level players, who had searched for him.
His sister, Tiarna Hampson, remarked, "[You] made sure his last days were the best of his life,"
Mr. Hampson began his semi-professional career in 2019 with the Tweed Seagulls before joining the Dolphins in 2019.
