Kevin Spacey testified in a New York courtroom yesterday that he never made a sexual advance on actor Anthony Rapp, who claims the Oscar-winning actor tried to seduce him when he was 14 years old.

The actor, who identified himself as Kevin Spacey Fowler, was asked about allegations that he picked up Mr. Rapp after a party in 1986 and placed him on his bed before lying on top of him.

Mr. Rapp claims that he wriggled out from underneath the then-26-year-old actor before departing the flat, only to have the American Beauty star follow him to the door and ask if he was certain he wanted to go.

"They are false," Spacey stated regarding the charges.

He was then questioned if he has kept his life secret throughout his profession.

"I work in a very complicated family dynamic," he added, explaining that his father's white nationalist and neo-Nazi outbursts when he was a child taught him to despise racism and intolerance.

Spacey stated that his father's mentality was likely harmed by unemployment caused by his failed attempt to become a creative writer.

Spacey stated that his father was a white supremacist and neo-Nazi. It meant that my brothers and I had to endure countless hours of my father lecturing us about his ideas.

He stated that he detests racism and intolerance that originated at that time.

Spacey described having friends over as "humiliating and terrifying" because he never knew what his father would say to them or him.

"Everything that transpired in that house was a secret that I had to keep to myself. "I have never discussed these matters in public," he stated.

As Spacey's interest in theatre grew, he stated that his father "used to scream at me at the thought that I might be gay."

Two hours after Mr. Rapp's attorneys concluded their presentation of evidence, Judge Lewis Kaplan threw out a claim of intentional infliction of mental distress. Spacey's testimony began two hours later.

Mr. Kaplan stated that portions of the allegation mirrored Mr. Rapp's assault and battery claim.

Mr. Spacey's attorney urged for dismissal because Mr. Rapp's attorneys had failed to establish his allegations.

Mr. Kaplan stated that the trial may proceed with the assault and battery accusations made by Mr. Rapp, a 50-year-old regular on the television series Star Trek: Discovery. He was a member of Rent's original Broadway cast.

In 2017, allegations made by Mr. Rapp and others quickly wrecked the career of Spacey, a 63-year-old Oscar-winning actor from the Netflix series House of Cards.

In 1986, Mr. Rapp met Mr. Spacey on Broadway, where he was playing in Precious Sons.

Mr. Rapp testified for multiple days at the beginning of the trial, which reached its third week Wednesday.

In cross-examination last week, Spacey's attorney questioned Mr. Rapp's memory of the 1986 incident, asking him why he described the meeting as having occurred in a bedroom when Spacey lived in a studio at the time.

Rapp filed a lawsuit against Spacey in November 2020, asking $40 million in compensation for the abuse and intentional infliction of emotional distress.

Spacey won Oscars for best actor in American Beauty and best-supporting actor in The Usual Suspects, but more than 20 men accused him of sexual misconduct, effectively ending his career. Christopher Plummer replaced him in All the Money in the World a few weeks before the film's 2017 release date, after Netflix pulled him from House of Cards.

Next year, Spacey will face a criminal trial in London after pleading not guilty to five sex offense allegations relating to alleged incidents from 2005 to 2013.
