Saturday's battles with Israeli security forces in the Jenin refugee camp resulted in the deaths of at least two Palestinians and the wounding of eleven others, three of whom were critically injured.
In a statement, security officials revealed that the captured terror suspect, Salah Samir Abu Zeina, had been convicted of terrorism crimes twice and released in 2020. He was suspected of planning and executing shooting assaults against IDF troops stationed in the Jenin region.
Palestinian health sources reported that 16-year-old Mahmoud a-Sous was shot after throwing a firebomb at the soldiers during the skirmishes.
The event occurred a day after two other Palestinians, including a 14-year-old, were killed in fighting near the West Bank city of Qalqilya.
According to the IDF, the child threw a firebomb at the soldiers, who fired in retaliation.
Near the village of Kafr Qaddum, violence broke out as scores of Palestinians blocked roads and threw stones at soldiers, who responded with riot dispersal techniques and live fire. An injured rioter was sent to a local hospital.
No casualties were reported among the troops.
