After being diagnosed with a virus that left half of his face paralyzed, Justin Bieber is exhibiting early indications of recovery, according to a specialist specializing in facial paralysis.

Bieber stated in an Instagram video that he had Ramsay Hunt syndrome, which impacted the nerves in his ear and face. His right eye was not blinking, he noted.

Charles Nduka, a British plastic reconstructive surgeon and co-founder of the health organization Facial Palsy UK, stated that approximately 75% of individuals with the syndrome who receive early treatment, including steroids and antivirals, recover completely.

"I did notice in the video shared by Mr Bieber that he does appear to have some evidence of recovery, which is encouraging," Nduka told Reuters.

"With facial paralysis one of the most obvious things is patients are unable to close their eye fully to blink and they are unable to smile," Nduka explained.

"Before the grin reappears, increased symmetry in the face at rest will occur initially. Consequently, the base of the nose often rises somewhat, and the mouth becomes more uniform. On the video that was posted, I observed a few indications of early recovery."

Bieber, 28 years old, stated that he was physically unable to perform his future gigs.

Nduka stated that he deals with patients in the entertainment business, and they must address any immune-compromising disorders before returning to work.

"They will be under financial pressures and all sorts of pressures to get back out there as soon as possible, but doing so will only lead to longer term problems," he warned.
