According to Palestinian health sources, a Palestinian was killed Tuesday after clashes with Israeli police following a raid on a refugee camp near Jericho in the West Bank.
Ahmed Ibrahim Oweidat, 20, "succumbed to critical wounds sustained by live bullets at dawn today in Aqabat Jaber camp," the Palestinian Authority's Health Ministry reported.
According to an Israeli army official, the incident is still under investigation. Still, the individual was critically wounded during fire exchanges and was rushed to a hospital, where he died of his wounds.
According to sources, Oweidat was a Fatah member, while his father is a member of the Palestinian Authority's security forces.
According to the official Palestinian news agency Wafa, three individuals were hurt overnight during a raid on the camp by "undercover" police.
Violence has increased in Israel and the West Bank this month due to the intersection of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, the Jewish holiday of Passover, and Christian Easter celebrations.
Since late March, 14 people have been slain in terror acts in Israel by Palestinians and Israeli Arabs.
Oweidat is the 25th Palestinian killed in Israeli security forces raids in the West Bank over the same period, most of whom were shooters.
Violent skirmishes have also erupted in the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in eastern Jerusalem, raising fears of another armed conflict following an 11-day battle last year sparked by a similar upheaval.
