The Athlete has declared that she will no longer be playing tennis, saying that she has lost the drive to compete at the highest level. 

In her video, she also stated, "She won't have the physical strength, the emotional want of playing, and everything that takes to challenge herself at the top level anymore."

She also said that she is thankful for all the support she got on her journey and for the sport which had given her everything in life to make her feel proud and fulfilled. 

The announcement came two months after Barty became the first Australian to win Australian Open since 1978. 

Today's announcement marked the second time Barty has walked away from tennis, previously taking a hiatus to play cricket in 2014 before returning in 2016.
