A Boeing 737 carrying 133 people has crashed in China's mountains.
Chinese official television CGTN stated that a China Eastern Airlines flight from Kunming to Guangzhou experienced an "accident" in the Guangxi region, igniting a forest fire.
The Boeing 737 airplane was involved in the disaster, and the number of fatalities was not immediately known. According to CGTN, rescue crews have been rushed to the location.
Unverified video footage of the disaster has been uploaded online, showing massive smoke billowing from the mountainside near Wuzhou in southern China's Teng county.
The twin-engine, single-aisle Boeing 737 is one of the most popular short- and medium-haul aircraft globally. The type of 737 involved in the accident was not immediately known.
China Eastern runs numerous variants of the Boeing 737-800, including the 737 Max.
After two tragic crashes, the 737 Max version was grounded worldwide. Late last year, China's aviation regulator approved the plane's return to operation, making the country the final primary market to do so.
