According to Pakistani media reports, a blast inside a mosque rattled Peshawar's Kocha Risaldar on Friday. Hospital officials said at least 30 bodies were carried to the Lady Reading Hospital.
At least 50 individuals have been hurt, according to reports.
According to the Pakistani Dawn newspaper, Capital City Police Officer (CCPO), Peshawar Ijaz Ahsan, confirmed the death of one police officer. At the same time, Asim Khan, media manager for Lady Reading, reported 30 bodies had been taken to the hospital thus far.
According to the CCPO, two attackers attempted to enter a mosque in the city's Qissa Khwani Bazaar and fired at the police officers on duty. As a result, one police officer was martyred, and another was gravely injured, according to the CCPO. The mosque was blown up in the aftermath of the incident.
According to police spokesman Waheed Khan, the explosion occurred as worshippers gathered for Friday prayers at the Kocha Risaldar mosque.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the explosion.
