Former US Ambassador to Nepal Scott H. DeLisi has said it is up to the Nepalese people and leaders to decide whether MCC is the best path for Nepal. In an exclusive interview with Babita Pradhan Shrestha for Breaknlinks, he publicized his idea. Babita hosts a regular talk show, 'Babble with Babita' on Breaklinks. Breaknlinks' Youtube channel broadcasts the talk show.

In an interview, Ambassador DeLisi said the MCC is a burning topic of discussion and that he did not want to get involved in it.

"We wanted to be a good partner for Nepal, help alleviate poverty, and help to build a strong future for Nepal," said DeLisi. But he is very proud of the MCC compact and what the United States is ready to do with it.

It is up to the Nepali people to choose what they want; he said, " I believe we have proposed a strong program. And I also know that it is very much profoundly involved in politics. So, I don't want to argue too much. "

Responding to another question, DeLisi said it was not his job to determine Nepal's interest.

He further added that he was not involved in the process and said, "this is a dialogue between the two governments, and I do not want to discuss it further."

Ambassador Scott H. DeLisi was the US Ambassador to Nepal from 2010 to 2012. Even after the end of his tenure, he has been incessantly working on assisting Nepal's development through the Soarway Foundation and Engage Nepal.
