The Premier of Ontario has stated that he will utilize legal means to issue directives to make it "clear" that blocking and impeding the movement of goods, people, and services along essential infrastructure is illegal and punished.

Ontario Premier Doug Ford proclaimed a state of emergency on Friday in response to continued roadblocks caused by truck convoy demonstrations in Ottawa and Windsor, both in Canada's Ontario province.

He stated that he will utilize legal means to impose directives, making it "clear" that blocking and impeding the passage of goods, people, and services along key infrastructure is illegal and punished.

Ford stated that this covers international border crossings, 400-series motorways, airports, ports, bridges, and trains, and that non-compliance will result in fines of up to 100,000 Canadian dollars and a year in prison.
