Tor Wennesland, the UN Special Coordinator for the region, expressed concern about the fragile and deteriorating security situation in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, stressing that rising levels of violence should serve as a clear warning to the international community to take action to prevent further bloodshed.

As he told the UN Security Council (UNSC), the situation in that Israeli-occupied Palestinian area is at risk of worsening much more, which might have ramifications for the Gaza Strip and jeopardize the cease-fire.

As a result, he emphasized, all parties must take immediate actions to reduce tensions and restore calm.

Israeli security forces have killed 12 Palestinians since September 29, including a lady and four children. In addition, he said, Israeli settlers or other Jewish citizens injured 39 Palestinians, including four children.

Two Israelis, including members of the Tel Aviv security forces, were killed and thirty others were injured.

Wennesland stated that the recent increase in violence in the occupied Palestinian territories should serve as a strong warning to all of us.

He cautioned that if they are not addressed, another wave of destructive and brutal violence could erupt, and he called for action to avert this.
