On Monday, the Haute Autorité de Sante (HAS), France's health regulator, approved the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccination for all children aged 5 to 11.
According to Lise Alter, one of the experts in charge of risk evaluation of novel pharmaceuticals, the vaccine, which will be delivered in a pediatric formulation when it becomes publicly available, demonstrated great efficacy among youngsters.
"The HAS suggests that all parents who have children from 5 to 11 years have their children vaccinated," she added.
Last week, France began immunizing children aged 5 to 11 who have medical issues that necessitate special protection and increased logistics in preparation for the vaccination of all children in that age bracket once the HAS authorized the action.
