Alec Baldwin has stated that he feels "no guilt" for fatally shooting Halyna Hutchins in New Mexico while filming Rust.

The 63-year-old actor spoke publicly for the first time about the terrible occurrence during a sit-down interview with ABC News presenter George Stephanopoulos.

Alec revealed what happened on the set where Halyna and director Joel Souza were shot in the raw and emotional interview, stressing that he "didn't pull the trigger."

Alec stated that he was "not responsible" for the catastrophe, which aided him in surviving "the worst moment" of his life.

The actor felt he was being handed a "cold gun:" during a marking practice during which Halyna instructed him on how and where to handle the gun for the scene they were filming.

Host "You felt shocked, anger, and sadness," George inquired of Alec. Are you guilty?'

Alec was frank in his response, stating, "No, no, I believe there isn't... Someone is accountable for what occurred, and while I cannot tell who, I am sure it is not me.

"Honest to God, if I believed I was responsible, I might have murdered myself. And I am not joking."

He remembers standing over Halyna for "60 seconds" following the incident while the crew attempted to process what had occurred.

"She falls," Alec stated. 'Did she pass out?' I wondered. The fact that that gun contained a live bullet did not dawn on me until perhaps 45 minutes to an hour later."

"No one could comprehend," he continued. Is it possible that she suffered a heart attack?

"I stood over her for 60 seconds, and she laid there kind of in shock."

Alec has stated that he worked with cops during the incident's inquiry.

Alec expressed his regret over the unfortunate tragedy in a statement he shared on social media in the days following the incident.

He tweeted at the time, 'There are no words to express my sorrow and anguish over the horrific tragedy that claimed the life of Halyna Hutchins, a wife, mother, and deeply loved colleague of ours.'

"I am fully working with the police inquiry into how this tragedy transpired, and I have contacted her husband to offer him and his family my support.

"My heart is broken for her husband, their son, and all who knew and loved Halyna."
