Alec Baldwin claims he did not pull the trigger on the toy gun that accidentally discharged and killed a cameraman on the set of Rust.
Mr. Baldwin denied being the one who pulled the gun in an interview with US ABC's George Stephanopoulos that will air on Thursday.
On Wednesday, ABC broadcast a film of Mr. Baldwin sobbing as he described Halyna Hutchins, the cinematographer killed on the set.
Joel Souza, the director, was also injured.
"I didn't pull the trigger," Mr. Baldwin stated.
Mr. Baldwin's first sit-down interview since the shooting on the set of the western picture Rust on October 21.
Authorities have stated that Mr. Baldwin was advised that the gun was safe to handle, but they are still investigating how a live shell became lodged in the firearm.
During his discussion with Stephanopoulos, Mr. Baldwin was questioned about how a live round ended up on the set.
"I have no idea," the actor stated.
"Someone put a live bullet in a gun — a bullet that wasn't even supposed to be on the property."
According to investigators, there was "some complacency" in the way guns were handled on set.
They have stated that it is too early to determine whether charges would be made, even though separate civil claims have been filed alleging blame for the fatal shooting.
