Chris Cuomo, a CNN anchor, has been suspended indefinitely for assisting his brother, former New York governor Andrew Cuomo, who was facing sex assault charges.
The decision came after the Fresh York attorney general revealed new records revealing the scope of his work for Andrew Cuomo, his older brother.
The records, according to CNN, reveal "a higher level of engagement in his brother's operations than we previously understood."
Andrew Cuomo resigned in August after prosecutors accused him of harassing employees.
Chris Cuomo's behind-the-scenes attempts to assist his political brother were generally regarded as a violation of journalistic ethics in the media.
Attorney General Letitia James's release of thousands of pages on Monday shows that the younger Cuomo repeatedly pressured the governor's staff to allow him to take a greater role in his brother's defense.
You need to trust me," he texted Melissa DeRosa, the governor's secretary, in March. "We are making mistakes we can't afford," he added.
As New York became the worldwide epicenter of the coronavirus outbreak last year, CNN temporarily lifted its rule prohibiting Cuomo from covering his brother. On television, the host began interviewing his brother and complimenting his governorship.
Cuomo, who joined the channel in 2013, was previously supported by the network despite the controversy surrounding his efforts to aid his influential brother.
