Of the wake of an increase in Covid-19 cases across Europe, new agitation has arisen in the Netherlands opposing stricter lockdown measures.
One night after violent protests in Rotterdam turned violent and police opened fire, residents in The Hague flung fireworks at police and set fire to bicycles.
Thousands of people took to the streets in Austria, Croatia, and Italy as outrage over the new curbs grew.
The World Health Organization (WHO) expressed "grave concern" over the increasing number of coronavirus cases on the continent.
Dr Hans Kluge, the organization's regional director, warned the BBC that unless European safeguards were tightened, half a million more deaths may be reported by next spring.
"Covid-19 has become once again the number one cause of mortality in our region," he told the BBC, adding "we know what needs to be done" in order to fight the virus - such as getting vaccinated, wearing masks, and using Covid passes.
In order to combat growing illnesses, many governments throughout the continent are enacting new regulations. A handful of countries have recently reported daily case counts that are at all-time highs.
