As the overall number of vaccinations delivered in Australia approaches 37 million, the country will shortly reach a stunning first-dose vaccination milestone.

According to Health Minister Greg Hunt, 90% of all Australians over the age of 16 are expected to have received at least one dose of the Covid-19 vaccine by the end of today.

"We know that we got to 89.9% of first doses yesterday, and we'll reach 90% today," Hunt said on Thursday.

Every state and territory in Australia has now passed the 80% first-dose rate threshold.

With 94 and 95 percent of their respective populations having gotten at least one immunization, NSW and the ACT continue to lead the nation in vaccination rates.
