According to the Gurkha-Youth leaders, the ministers and the President of the People's Elected National Unity Government (NUG) formed against the Myanmar junta attended the 'Democracy Deepawali' virtual conference organized by GMDM.
The Gurkha Movement for Democracy in Myanmar is the official umbrella organization of Burmese-Garkhalis (Nepali speakers) living in Thailand. The Gurkha Movement for Democracy in Myanmar has been providing monthly support to the National Unity Government.

President of the Myanmar shadow government Dua Lashila, Planning and Finance Minister Tin Thun Nain, Minister Tu Khanu, and others attended the conference. The Burmese community believes that the lamps lit by the Gurkhali Hindu community on Deepawali will spread the light of democracy.
The 'Democracy Deepawali' conference organized by GMDM is expected to provide Rs 300,000 to Rs 500,000 (Thai currency) to AJUG. Experts have said that such gatherings and meetings will bring more unity to the Gurkha society.
The Gurkha social organization representatives have said that the Myanmar army will help the people in the rural areas facing terror. Funds raised from the Gurkha Movement for Democracy in Myanmar conference will be provided to NUG later this month.
