On November 7, a group of Chinese workers in Russia's the Far East held a protest against their employer, Rosneft, a Kremlin-controlled oil company.

According to local media, some 50 workers walked out of their temporary lodgings in Komsomolsk-on-Amur and into the city center.

Workers from China are assisting in the rehabilitation of a Rosneft oil refinery. According to local media, the workers claim they have not been paid in months and are requesting to be deported to China.

One of the world's major oil firms, Rosneft, has denied the allegations.

According to the corporation, the employees were fired for poor job quality, but owing to the coronavirus pandemic, they cannot be transported back to China.

In the interim, the company is paying the employees a minimum wage and daily allowance, according to the corporation.

Rosneft has been attempting to establish economic relations with China, one of the world's largest and fastest-growing oil and gas markets.
