A new sanctions package is already on the table of 27 EU ministers, according to Franak Vyachorka, Svyatlana Tsikhanouskaya's counsel.

“This is the first time that Denmark (!) has initiated sanctions. They have never done this before. Now is the stage of coordination, they may add or remove someone from the list,” he noted.

The fifth package, according to Vyachorka, is a solution to the migratory crisis. There were intentions to delay penalties until December just a week ago, but the ministers decided not to wait. Sanctions may be imposed on Belavia and companies that assist in the transfer of migrants.

The US sanctions against Belaruskali will go into effect on December 8, according to Tsikhanouskaya's advisor. “It will be extremely terrible for the regime,” he predicts.

“The blame for the sanctions lies on Lukashenka and his gang. The sanctions can be stopped by releasing all political prisoners, stopping the migration crisis, and starting a dialogue with the people,” notes Vyachorka.
