According to ABC News, the Military Police said the organization planned to assault banking institutions during the All Souls holiday.

The operation, which was carried out in collaboration with Federal Highway Police, resulted in the confiscation of "a real arsenal of war," including.50-caliber machine guns, weapons, explosives, and bulletproof vests, according to the report.

The agencies provided a few further details.

Large-scale bank robberies have become more common in Brazil in recent years, with hostages occasionally being used as human shields.

In August, bank robbers armed with explosives and high-powered guns scared a city in the Brazilian state of Sao Paulo, marching hostages down a street and strapping some to their cars as they fled.

In December, large bands of bank robbers stormed cities on both sides of the country, taking hostages and overcoming police garrisons once more.
