Despite the rise in the more transmissible Delta variant,  vaccinations are still extremely effective against hospitalization, according to a CDC expert on Monday.

Dr. Sara Oliver, speaking before the CDC's Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices on Monday, said that since the emergence of Delta, vaccine effectiveness against hospitalization has ranged from 75% to 95%.

"Vaccines remain effective in preventing hospitalization and severe disease but might be less effective in preventing infection or milder symptomatic illness," the presentation said.
