The government in New Zealand pushed the entire nation into lockdown on Tuesday, after finding a single case of coronavirus in the country.
The country will go through a strict three days lockdown starting from Tuesday. The region where the infected person and where he had visited was found will go through a seven days lockdown.
New Zealand's Prime Minister Jacinda Adern said, "We have seen what happens elsewhere if we fail to get on top of it."
She said there is no second chance if the outbreak happens, and the country should avoid it at any cost.
She said Auckland, where the infected man lives, and Coromandel, where he had visited, would go into a full lockdown for seven days and the remainder of the country for three days while health experts tried to find the source of his infection.
New Zealand has managed to keep corona out of the country since February and has been responsive and very successful to control the pandemic since the beginning.
However, Ardern has been warning that it will not take much for the highly contagious to change the situation in the country dramatically and has urged the country's people to stay safe.
New Zealand has, however, been slow to innoculate its population as it has only vaccinated 18% of its entire population while many other developed nations have vaccinated more than half of its population.
New Zealand also suspended its inoculation campaign for two days due to fear of a possible outbreak.
There have been only 23 deaths in the country down-under since the start of the pandemic due to the coronavirus.
