As a massive wildfire rages in northern California, police in the United States are looking for eight people.

The third-largest fire in California's history has been named Dixie fire. It has been blazing for more than three weeks now.

Thousands of people have been forced to flee their homes due to the fire.

Scientists blame global warming and environmental change for the fire.

Around 20% of the fire has been contained now. It scorched more than 180,000 hectares at its prime.

This weekend's cooler and calmer weather has given firefighters a comparative break. However, they are still struggling to contain the fire.

What caused the fire is still unknown and is being investigated.
