NSW recorded 44 locally acquired COVID-19 cases in the 24 hours to 8 pm yesterday.
The source of nine of the cases is still being looked into.
Twenty-nine of the new patients were totally or partially infected while in the community.
Gladys Berejiklian, the Premier of NSW, reiterated the significance of rigorous lockdown measures to prevent deaths this afternoon.
"This is the opposite of where we need or want the numbers to trend," she said.
"Do not think that the NSW Government thinks we can live with this when our rate of vaccination is only at 9 percent."
To address the state's Covid-19 outbreak, Berejiklian stated many new social distance measures would be implemented.
People will only be able to work out in two-person groups (or with their households). People are not allowed to exercise more than 10 kilometers from their residences. Funerals will be limited to a maximum of ten mourners starting on Sunday.
Kerry Chant, the chief health officer, said the outbreak has reached a "difficult" stage.
"I know that this has been a long journey in the fight against Covid but we cannot stumble over this hurdle," she said.
