Mudslide in Japan: 20 missing , 2 Dead

Around some 20 people are missing after a Japanese town was swept away by a mudslide that has killed two people, so far.

The tragedy took place at Atami city of Japan, about 60 miles (100 kilometers) southwest of Tokyo, amid the country's rainy season.

Footage on Social media showed the powerful black mudslide shoot down a mountainside, engulfing homes and infrastructure as locals watched in horror.

The giant mudslide in Atami, Shizuoka prefecture, which occurred around 10:30 a.m. local time on Saturday, came after parts of the region were hit by torrential rain.

The CNN cited the city official who confirmed the death of two women in the mudslide.

The City official also said that more than 380 people were evacuated from the region as of 6:30 pm, Saturday.

According to the city's Fire and Disaster Management Agency, 100 to 300 houses have been affected by the mudslide.

About 2,830 households in the city lost power, according to the Tokyo Electric Power Company. By Sunday, power had mostly been restored in Shizuoka.
